Job Description
Everyday is busy, almost TOO busy. Something is always going wrong and I feel like I'm the go-to guy. It's great that I can help, but like I said before, it gets overwhelming. My day is 75% meetings and 25% actual effective work time. Also, I work with software engineers closely to roll out new programs, and since engineers generally tend to work LATE, I also work late. Finding myself in the office at 10pm is not unusual. This is not to say I'm goin 'round the clock like a robot. My team members and I are always planning happy hours, lunches, dinners...pretty much anything that will give us a good 1 or 2 hour break in the middle of the hectic day.
Pros
I have a great working relationship with my boss and colleagues. They respect and actually listen to my ideas and opinions. My job requires a lot from me, but it's a good fit because I'm a workaholic and I like to do everything I can to make a program successful. I get satisfied by seeing immediate results and receive recognition for my efforts.
Cons
Because it's a relatively small company in the tech industry, there's a lot of movement and adjustment. It's unstable. Though I'm not worried about being laid off, my position is ever-changing. I sometimes feel I get handed more and more responsibility without a change in title or compensation. It feels a little difficult to move up in this world. It takes a lot out of me because the hours can get overwhelming. I'm also reachable by Blackberry, which is a BAD thing. You don't ever have an excuse to be away from your work.
